How to Get to Your Dogsled Adventure

We love visitors, we ask that you please call ahead to request a tour if you are coming to the lodge without a trip reservation. Guests with reservations, please check with us first if you want to come earlier than your designated check-in time. You must be accompanied by a Wintergreen staff member to enter the kennel. The property also includes a private residence.

Double-check your exact starting location and check-in time on your trip itinerary at one of the following locations. Unless otherwise noted, all day trips start at Wintergreen Dogsled Lodge

Recommended driving route

We recommend driving to Ely through Virginia, MN via 35 W to 169 N as this route is most reliably plowed during the winter. Expect 90 minutes of travel time to lodge once you go through Virginia, MN. Add 30 minutes to your planned arrival time if you are picking up rental clothing.

Please be cautious while driving on rural roads, especially Ring Rock Rd. It can be icy, with sharp turns. The recommended speed limit is 15 mph during the winter on dirt roads in Ely. Please drive slowly on the Wintergreen Lodge driveway and expect to share the road with dog teams. There may also be loose dogs.

We recommend All all-wheel drive and winter tires.
